To have the kind of year you want to have, something has to happen that you can't explain why it happened. Something has to happen that you can't coach.

Today is my last day on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica and I have to say I enjoyed myself and met a few really nice people and had a lot of fun.
I brought the New Year in with three people I met on my second night. We went to a local bar in Puerto Viego where there was live Raggae music playing, which I must say I think I really enjoy listening too. At 12:00 we had a shot of tequila, it has been year since I had the stuff and it went down as smooth as always with no chaser. We were out pretty late which was different for me since I have been going to bed early from all the stuff I did during the day.
The days in Caribbean side are cool in the morning, hot for about 5 hours until sea set and then cool again. It also rains a lot of this side. I think it rained every night and most days. The day I moved from Cahuita to Puerto Viego it poured all day so I got to have the backpackers experience of walking in the rain, it was not fun!
New Years Eve Day, Willow, Dave, Marc (my new friends) and I took a drive to Manzanillo and went for a hike. It was so beautiful and peaceful and we had a lot of fun. I got to use my gopro and I love it. I can't wait to upload the video and pictures I took.
In Manzanillo the views were amazing. We saw rocks in the middle of the Sea and did want to swim out to them and climb however the waves were a little hug and either one of use wanted to die just let. As we continued along out hike we for to a point that the hill was all mudding due to all the rain but we tackled and boy did we have fun doing so. I think Willow and I almost fell at least 5 times each, thankfully we didn't.
After our hike and washing all the mud off Willow and Dave dropped Marc and I off at our Hotel so we could refreshed up to go out. Yes a hotel but not one most of us are a used to staying at. It was more like a cottage feel to it but it was nice.
After we showered and got ready we walked into town had dinner. I decided to try the local food again but thankfully the waitress spoke some English so I could let her know what I was allergic too. They made my meal without the ingredients I couldn't eat and the food was delicious and the wind complement my dish.
After dinner we met up with Willow and Dave and went to a local bar and listen to music until the band took a break which at the point we went to another bar. This bar was not as fun and because of the rain the live band was not playing, they did however have a buy tossing fire. We decided to return the the Red rock where we were before and again listen to the music and danced all night. Yes I danced for hours and it was fun. The music was reggae and as I mentioned above I loved it. The last performer was Johnny Dread and he played for about 2 hours, and was pretty good. I am going to down load some of his songs on iTunes when I get home.
Around 2:30-2:45 we called it a night and went back to our hotel. I only had a few hours sleep as I can't seem to sleep in here, but I was not tried at all. The hotel serviced breakfast and it was one if the best meal I have eaten. The guy who runs the hotel is a young guy, him and a few friends work there and you can tell he enjoys every minute of what he does. It really was a great place to stay. The was if you ever are in Puerto Viego I suggest you stay here.
The next day we just had a beach day. Marc and I met up with Willow and Dave and hung out on the beach. It was finally nice enjoy to just lay around and work on my tan. I am starting to get a nice base.
For dinner Willow and I went to the place here and Dave are staying at and she made this dip that I must make when I get home . It was filling enough for a meal. After we were finished we went back to the beach and picked the boys up, one the way back we recused a horse from the street by chasing it off the road. It must have got out but no one seemed to be worried even when it was running in front if cars.
Once we got back to the beach and picked the boys up, Marc and I returned to our hotel, it was a different one as the one we stayed in the night before did not have availability for us to stay two nights. I decided to have a shower and Marc joined Willow and Dave for cheese cake.
I soon joined as I found a cockroach in the bathroom and scared myself and was a little shaken up that I had to get out of there. We sat around talking and before calling it a night as all of us at to be up early the next morning.
That brings me to my last day here and my writing this. Today I leave for the Pacific coast. I am actually going with Willow and Dave because they too are heading the same way. It works out because this way I get too see more of this lovely country and more of the coast, and the plus is they are in a car and I would have been taking a boring route on a bus to San Jose. Marc is heading to Panama as well in the morning.
Meeting these three has made my trip more enjoyable and fun. I can't wait to see what is in store for me.
A little reflection from the Caribbean. It is worth going to for a few days. I wouldn't want to live here as it rain too much and if you want the heat and want to get in the sun it really isn't the place. That being said it has a lot of nature to see and things to do. Cahuita is the quieter town as Puerto Viego is more for the part seem. I would suggest if you want quiet stay in Cahuita and make day trips to Puerto Viego and Manzanillo. They are very close and if you do not have a car the price is only a few dollars to take. They have buses that run hourly until 8:50 at night so you are able to enjoy the day time where the beaches are nicer and better to swim in and you can watch some of the night life before having to head back. If you want a party stay in Puerto Viego but do take a day trip to Cahuita and enjoy the nature, plus the people are a little more friendlier. At night however in any town be careful as people are out selling drops on almost every corner so do not talk to them or shake their hand as that is a sign you want something. As well be careful if you do stop to talk to someone don't tell them where you are headed as they could out drugs in you bag and you would never know it. This did not happen to me, I was told by many locals. Thankfully I haven't been traveling on my own since my second night in Costa Rica.
It's time for me to get ready as I am being picked up at 8:30 to start my new adventure to the other side of Costa Rica where all the fun activities begin.
