adventures

Travel as much and as fare as you can, as long as you can, life is not meant to be lived in, in one place.

It's been a few days since writing anything but I have been out making some awesome memories on this adventure.

My last day on the Caribbean side, I said good by the Marc then Willow, David and I headed to the Pacific side.

Our drive way long but fun because be had a few turn arounds, am I going the right way, oh ya I was going the right way lets turn around again, the kind that you get to laugh about after.  We finally made it to the ferry in Puntarenas but we missed the last one going over because we had the times wrong.  This made for even more memories because we could t find a hotel or hostel to stay as everything was full.  A guy from Canada,
actually from the Falls flagged us down and said he was unofficial information guy, which meant he doesn't get paid for what he does.  He makes his living off of tips alone.  This guy offered his from yard which was a side walk to put the tent up for the night.  We said up and had a drink with Jake, who actually sleeps outside himself.  We sat around talking and listening to his stories about his own adventure, he had some good stories and gave us advice on what to see once we got over to Mal Pais.

After sleep on a side walk in a tent with no where to go to the washroom or freshen up we got up at 4:00 am, got the ferry ticket, grab something to eat and use the washroom and were on our way.

The ferry ride was 1.5hrs but it was well worth it because I got to see the sun rise.
I have been waiting to see this from the moment I got to Costa Rica but the Caribbean side was too cloudy and rained every morning and night.  Seeing the sun rise was such an incredible site.  I have saw the sun rise but to see it on out water on the Pacific was breath taking.

Once off the ferry we drove to Montazuma.  This little town had some pretty cool stuff.

We went swimming in the ocean then ventured around town and had something to eat before heading to Mal Pais.
It is dry season on the Pacific side so we were able to take the coast to Mal Pais and I am glad we did.  It was bumpy and we had to drive through some small river banks but worth every second.

Along our drive we saw a 500 year old furis so we stopped and took some pictures and climb the tree a little.  The tree was so huge you could hardly get it all in a picture.  We also saw a cool lizard but it move way to fast to get a picture.

After seeing the tree we coninuted along the bumpy, rocky and hill jungle to Mal Pais.  We looked at the water and drive to Santa Teresa and found a hostel to stay at.  We slept in the tent again which I actually had a great night sleep and the bonus even know they were outside is, is they had hot showers.  My first in over a week!

After we set up the tent we went down to the water and went swimming again.  The water is so refreshing and different at every place you go. Every place however has its own beauty, I completely understand how people come here and never leave.  I would if I didn't have so much to go back to in Ontario.

After swimming we sat on the beach and I watch my first sunset since  getting here, another thing I have been wanting to do.  This was so surreal to me I just sat and watch it.  I even gopro it so I could see it again when I'm at home if I want to.

After the sunset and sitting for a little longer we went back to camp and had a come cooked meal that Willow made and it was delicious. I have a few recipes to take home with me now.

That night we had a few drinks and went to bed!

The next day, we went to this little places called The Bakery,
I recommend if you every are in Santa Teresa you stop here and grab and treat.  After the bakery we went to our hostel and made breakfast and packed everything before heading to the water were we decided to rent a surf board and do some surfing or well I tried to surf for the first time.  I did get up and caught a wave for a few seconds before falling off.  It was a lot of fun even know I am going to have some nice bruises from the board hitting me.  The board hit me in the head which was not fun but I will say I might give surfing a try again one day, maybe even on this trip. Oh and the place we got the surf board from, which was called Jobbies,
the cost is only cost $15.00 for the day. The owner is from Canada and Ivan the guy working there was from Ontario.  It has been nice seeing fellow Canadians.

After surfing we ventured to our next place which is Samara.  Again the we took the dirt roads and yet again it was an adventure and the views were amazing.  I don't think I have laughed as much as I have the last few days!

Today we drove looking at the Ocean and then thru jungle.  The roads were very bumpy and dirty and the dust was the worst part but the view was well worth the drive.  It did take longer to get to Samara this way but we got to see way more than we would have if we didn't take this way.  During the rainy season you can not drive these roads as they are too wet and the rivers are way to high to cross over.  Speaking of rivers we had to drive through three of them which was pretty run.  The rivers were not muddy they actually were pebble stone
and the water was refreshing.  I also got to get some nice use out of my gopro which I has actually been pretty cool to play with. At the last river we saw local people swimming so we decided to go for a swim ourselves.  The water was fresh and very refreshing. It washed all the salt water and dust off and I left so much better.  I ever wore one of Willows bikini tops because too was too wet and I only brought one suit with me.  Next time I do this I will bring a few.
After cooling off I changed and ended up flashing a local guy who I didn't see.  I looked up and he was just starring at me.  Oh well it's not like I will ever see this young guy again.

After our scenic route we got to Samara and stopped to look at the water before going I the hostels. Willow and Dave had already stayed here and had nothing but good things to say about this place and the people who run it.  The hostel is called Camp Supertramp.  I highly recommend staying here if you are ever in Samara.  Everyone who runs the hostel is from all over the world and they are the most down to earth people I have ever met.  They make you feel at home and sit around and talk to you, something I really haven't found in any hostel yet on my trip.

Once at Camp Willow introduce me to some one the people and we sat around the fire and had a drink.  After talking for a whole we went over to a friend of Pepe's (Peps is one of the people who run Camp SuperTramp.) met some people who live in Samara.  I met one girl who is from Vancouver and came here on vacation 3 years ago and never left.  After hanging out until around 2:30 we went back to the hostel to sleep.

I slept in a dorm called the Monkey room.
To get to my bed I had to climb which is the reason it was called the Monkey room.  I didn't sleep all the well because of the beautiful sounds of all the animals singing out side.

I am here for one for night before I say good-bye to Willow and Dave and head to see more of Costa Rica before going on to Nicaragua.

I have had a lot of adventures with Willow and Dave, it is going to be sad saying good-bye.  They are staying in Samara for a few months.  I know we will met again one day and if we don't I have made so many memories with them that will last forever. I have only been here a few weeks and have already made a few friends who have helped made this trip amazing this far.  I can't wait to see what is next for me.

Today I didn't do much just went I to Samara and walked around the town before going for a swim in the Ocean.  After my swim and a little laying out in the sun I went back to the hostel and had a shower.  I love swimming in the Ocean but it makes me feel sticky so showering after gets the salt off my skin.  Well I was sitting reading the squirrel at the hostel decided to sit on my lap.
I moved to the hammock and did some ready about where I was going next and ended up having an hour nap.  I think I was to buy one and take it home with me.  I love just relaxing in them.

I hope everyone back home is enjoying the New Year and you are not getting to much bad weather.

Adios, until my next writing.
